![]() Yugioh has a larger playerbase and it is much easier to find stores to play at, as well as having several well made online simulators. Yugioh allows for more deck expression due to not requiring 1/3 of your deck be triggers and having sideboard options. Since the removal of G-Guards, players essentially have no agency during the opponents turn. Decks and archetypes from 3-5 years ago are still seeing meta play whereas vanguard cant go 3 years without needing to reboot the entire game. Yugioh has less powercreep than vanguard. ![]() Yugioh is a hot mess of inconsistent rulings. Vanguard has a comprehensive rules document. You can play what you want and still have decent odds of winning. No crazy combo boards or stupid floodgates win the game instantly.Įvery clan is more or less viable. The existance of clans and nations means players aren't all fighting over the same expensive staples that every yugioh player needs. Overall, both card games have their own strength and weaknesses and I do hope Vanguard would go towards the competitive direction like Best of 3 instead of best of 1 for official tournament if time allows as I know it already took approx 9hr to run a BO1 for 8 round of Swiss.Īs someone who quit vanguard for ygo, I'll give my opinions, as unpopular as they may be: Pros: So if I have to I introduce a game to my friend, I would choose Vanguard as it is more enjoyable even in competitions ( it's hard to win but you know, you might be the lucky one).īut yes, if Vanguard didn't reboot we might have already been facing the similar issue with Yu-Gi-Oh. The trigger also adds alot of randomness to the game as well. Even the strongest deck do have like 20% chance of losing. No doubt strong deck still has a very high change of winning, but at least both players have a chance to go all out before the fight end. This is something which Vanguard is doing better as it is a more 'lucky/gacha' game as compared to other tcg. Or just started on your turn and get everything negated and was left with an empty field and lose the next round. Imagine you just ended your turn and lost. not just that, the way you win is not enjoyable too. When going up against my friends who just picked up the game, I have to close two eyes and not go all out because I felt bad winning as it is almost impossible to lose to a non meta / beginner deck. It is very complicated and is a entry barrier for new players to start the game. However, as the game has been going on for many years and the meta changed so many times and many advanced interactions have been introduced as a win conditions. Thus, competition wise I really felt that Yu-Gi-Oh wins Vanguard by a lot as decks are pretty consistent to get your game plan going on as compared to Vanguard. The current Yu-Gi-Oh! State involve a deeper thinking as players have to think far ahead to figure out your opponent's game plan and which are the cards you gotta negate and how can you avoid your winning-key card from getting negated. Like many, I started off as a Yu-Gi-Oh! player and is stubborn to try other card games as Yu-Gi-Oh! is really fun and I play them all the times with my friends. ![]() In my Opinion, none of the two game are better than one another but I do find Vanguard to be more enjoyable and Yu-Gi-Oh! For those who wants to challenge themselves. ![]() Which of the two game is better ? I'll stay objective. If both vanguards are G3 or greater, or if your vanguard was G3 at the start of your turn, you can choose cards in your hands that fulfil the stride cost of the G unit you wish to stride, discard them and stride that G unit from face down in your G zone. This is probably going to get me alot of hate for posting this but I was asked about this question today and it got me thinking. The 'Stride Step', within the Ride Phase, takes place after the Ride Step. It is placed in a location that is visible to your opponent, face down. G units cannot be put into the Main Deck or Ride Deck. G units have a different red border at the bottom of the card. You can have up to 16 cards in the G-Zone. G units are put separately from the Main Deck and Ride deck, in the G-Zone. ![]()
